I think fighting your boss in HR is usually a waste of time, and my old coworker Dana proved it
Everyone in this group says document everything and run to HR, but I watched Dana at a warehouse in Reno spend 5 months building a file on our supervisor and nothing happened except she got moved to night shift. I get why people push HR, and I'm not saying stay quiet when things are really bad, but HR works for the company, not for you. What actually got Dana out was a coworker hooking her up with a job at a different place, not the 60 pages of notes. Has anyone here ever seen HR actually fix the problem instead of just moving the person complaining?
Man, that Dana story hits hard. Watching somebody do everything the "right" way and still get shoved to nights would make anyone feel sick. It's rough when you put that much hope into a process and it just... doesn't show up for you. I've seen people keep their heads down and grind through stuff like that alone, and it wears on you after a while. At least she had somebody in her corner who actually came through with a real way out. Sometimes that's what saves you, not the paperwork.
