Boss said the 'unlimited PTO' policy in our 40 person Seattle office was a perk, so I tracked my days for 6 months
Turns out I took 4 days off while my manager took 19, because approval always came down to whether he felt like covering. Ask your team to log actual days taken before you sign anything, has anyone else seen the numbers come out this lopsided?
Sounds less like "unlimited PTO" and more like "whatever your boss feels like giving you that week." 4 days versus 19 is not a perk, that's just him taking two and a half weeks off while you get a long weekend. Honestly the only thing "unlimited" here is his freedom to say no.
