Back when I worked at a call center in 2018 my manager would time our bathroom breaks with a stopwatch.

Now I run my own pest control crew and I just tell the guys to handle their business whenever they need to because I realized treating adults like children only makes them resent you and slack off even more, has anyone else seen how micromanaging just backfires in the long run?

Holy cow, a stopwatch for bathroom breaks? That's just... wow. I mean, I've heard of some bad management stories but that's a whole other level of crazy. You'd think they'd realize timing someone's bathroom trip is just begging for resentment. Micromanaging like that never works, it just makes people hate coming to work and they'll do the bare minimum just to spite you.

Stopwatch on a bathroom break? That's the kind of move that makes people look for the exit before they even start their shift. Biggest thing I learned from dealing with managers like that is you gotta pick your battles. If someone's abusing bathroom time, address that specific person, don't punish everyone with a stopwatch. Your crew probably knows you treat them like adults, which means they'll go harder for you when things get busy. That's the real win, you get loyalty and hustle back instead of just compliance.
