Appreciation post for the old-school bosses who actually trained you
New managers in my field just throw you a manual and walk away. My first boss in 2012 spent 3 afternoons showing me how to handle a disgruntled customer, step by step. Does anyone still get that kind of training anymore?

Right, just skip the whole "teaching humans" part.

Oh man, right? Like we're just supposed to download a patch and suddenly everyone knows how to act. I guess the next update will teach people not to microwave fish in the break room or reply-all to company-wide emails. Real life doesn't come with a tutorial mode unfortunately. If only there was a "pause and ask for directions" button for social situations. Nope, we're all just winging it with whatever half-baked software our brains are running.
