Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to fix a leaky faucet

I thought I could swap a cartridge in 30 minutes, you know, like the YouTube guy did. Ended up spending $45 on a specific tool at Ace Hardware after 3 trips, then another hour because the old one was basically welded in. The water shutoff valve wouldn't turn either (of course), so that was a whole separate fight. Has anyone else dealt with a simple fix that turned into a 4 hour ordeal for no reason?

Ugh, yeah, I used to be the guy who thought home repairs were easy until I tried replacing a toilet flapper. Took me three trips to the hardware store and I nearly cracked the porcelain trying to get the old chain off. Now I just call a plumber for anything that involves water.

Is there a point where you just accept you're going to be at the hardware store for the whole afternoon? I swear those YouTube guys skip the part where you spend an hour just wrestling with a corroded nut.
