Warning: My $300 noise-cancelling headset turned into a 3 hour migraine trigger

Bought a pair of fancy noise-cancelling headphones last week to help me sleep after night shifts. Spent $300 thinking it would be a game changer for blocking out my neighbor's dog. Instead the pressure feeling gave me a killer headache after 30 minutes of use. Tried three different settings and even returned them for a different brand but same issue. Turns out my ears just hate that active noise cancelling tech. Anyone else find that these headsets make them feel seasick or dizzy?

Maybe it's just me but a 3 hour migraine from headphones sounds kinda dramatic.

Right? I completely get it. My $250 pair did the exact same thing to me, like a weird pressure in my skull that just builds and builds until I feel nauseous. It's not dramatic at all when you can't even wear them for a full commute without wanting to rip them off your head (ask me how I know). Some people just have ears that rebel against that active noise cancelling magic, and it's genuinely miserable. Solidarity, friend, because no amount of quiet is worth feeling like you're on a rocking boat for hours.
