Unpopular opinion: that new coffee shop downtown is way overpriced for what you get

I went to Brew & Muse on Main Street last Tuesday and paid $7 for a latte that tasted burnt and came in a tiny cup. I'd rather go to the old diner two blocks over where my coffee is $2.50 and comes with a free refill. Has anyone else felt like the hype at those trendy places is just about the vibe, not the actual drink?

Wait, didn't Brew & Muse open on Elm Street, not Main Street? I walked past it yesterday and saw the sign on the corner by the old library. Anyway, I agree the prices are wild for what you get, that burnt taste is a shame for seven bucks. Have you tried the drip coffee there instead, or is it just as rough?

You gotta ask them to pull it shorter if you go with the drip. I learned that trick after my third bitter cup in a row. The barista told me they roast their beans dark and the water sits too long in the machine. So now I just say "light pour, please" and it comes out way smoother, almost like a normal coffee. Still not worth seven bucks in my book but at least it's drinkable. Give it a shot next time you're on Elm, it might save you from that burnt taste.
