Switched from spreadsheets to a whiteboard for my side gig finances
I used to track every business expense in Google Sheets with color coded tabs and formulas. Last month I spent 3 hours fixing a formula error that messed up my quarterly numbers. Now I just write everything on a 4 foot whiteboard from Target with dry erase markers, it takes 15 minutes a week and I catch mistakes way faster. Has anyone else found a simpler system that actually works better than the fancy tools?

The whiteboard thing works until you need to look back at something from three months ago. I switched to a composition notebook, just one column for money in and one for money out. Takes me ten minutes every Sunday night, and I can flip back through the pages in two seconds. No batteries, no logins, no figuring out why the totals don't add up. Keep it simple and you won't waste time fighting the system instead of running your business.

The whiteboard idea is clever. I do something similar with a cheap paper planner, just jot down income and expenses by hand each week. No formulas to break, no syncing issues.
