My neighbor's comment about my lawn watering made me reconsider everything

He's a retired farmer in his 70s, and last week he told me I was drowning my grass by watering it every morning. Said I should water deep once a week instead. I tried it and after 3 weeks my lawn actually looks greener and I cut my water bill by $40. Has anyone else had a simple habit change like this from someone older?

I mean, is saving $40 on your water bill really that life changing? Maybe it's just me but watering your lawn every morning sounds like a lot of work anyway, so switching to once a week seems like common sense more than some big revelation. Idk, I've seen plenty of people water their grass like crazy and their yards look fine, so this whole thing feels a bit overblown. A retired farmer telling you to water less isn't exactly some hidden secret, it's pretty basic stuff. Not saying your neighbor is wrong, but acting like your whole world got flipped around over lawn care seems a little much. Maybe just take the savings and move on without turning it into some big deal.

People are acting like this guy discovered fire or something. It's just watering grass, not curing a disease. Brianm27 called it common sense and he's right, nobody needed a retired farmer to explain that wasting water every day is overkill. Some folks just like to make a big production out of small stuff to feel smart.
