I finally fixed the 2 year late fee problem after a stranger at the laundromat said one line

I was folding clothes at the laundromat on 5th last Saturday and this older guy next to me saw me sighing at my phone. He asked what was wrong and I said I keep getting hit with $35 late fees on my electric bill because I always remember to pay it on the 21st, one day after the due date. He said "why not just call them and ask to move your due date to the 25th?" I did it Monday, took 10 minutes, and they moved it for free. Has anyone else had a bill company just say yes to that, or did I get lucky?
