Dropped $150 on a fancy dehumidifier for my basement and it didn't even dent the mold issue
I figured a high-end unit would fix the damp smell after 3 months of fighting it, but now I'm out $150 and still waking up to mildew - anyone found a cheap fix that actually works?

Yeah, that's a rough one. I had a similar situation with a basement that just wouldn't dry out no matter what I tried. Ended up spending like $40 on a cheap box fan from the hardware store and just pointed it at the damp corner for a week straight. Not fancy, but it actually moved enough air to stop the mold from getting worse. Sometimes the simple stuff beats the expensive gadgets.

Borrow a dehumidifier from a neighbor first before buying anything, that way you know if the problem is actually just moisture in the air or something worse like a leak.
