Appreciation post for that 2019 conference in Portland where a random stranger told me my whole approach to deadlines was wrong

I was at a table during a lunch break when someone from accounting overheard me complaining about my list and she said 'you're treating every task like it's equally important, stop that' and it hit me like a brick, has anyone else had a total stranger call them out on a bad habit?

That accounting lady nailed it. I still think about the time a barista told me to stop apologizing for ordering something complicated, she said "you're paying for it, own it" and I've never apologized for a coffee order since.

Oh man, that barista was speaking the truth. I used to apologize all the time for asking for extra ranch at drive-thrus until this one cashier looked at me dead serious and said "ma'am, nobody's judging you for wanting more sauce." Changed my whole approach to ordering food honestly.
