Unpopular opinion: my $18 seat cushion saved my back but wrecked my focus
I work 9 hours a day in a call center doing nothing but reading the same script, and my old chair had me shifting around so much I couldn't sit still. So I bought one of those gel seat cushions for $18 at Walmart, and it fixed the back pain in about a week. The bad part is now I'm so comfy I zone out way harder, and yesterday I missed a whole page of notes because I was staring at the clock. Has anyone else made their boring job too easy to sit through? I'm wondering if I should just go back to being uncomfortable.
I had that same problem with the zoning out after I fixed my setup. What worked for me was keeping a small notebook and writing down one word every few minutes, just enough to keep my brain from floating off.
