The office printer jammed 12 times in one morning and I fixed it with a paperclip
I work in a data entry office in Omaha, and our ancient printer is the bane of my existence. Yesterday, it jammed every single time someone tried to print a report, which was about 12 times before lunch. I was ready to kick the thing. Then I remembered a tech guy once told me to check the little green rollers in the paper feed. I bent a paperclip into a hook, fished around in there, and pulled out a tiny, crumpled sticky note from three weeks ago. The printer has been working fine ever since. Has anyone else found a weird fix for a piece of junk office gear?

That trick works on the copy machine tray too.

Remember the old coffee trick for sticky keyboards? Pouring a tiny bit of cold black coffee on a cloth and wiping the keys can dissolve soda residue without wrecking the electronics. It saved our receptionist's keyboard after a big spill. That kind of hack is in the same spirit as your paperclip move and what @rowan593 said about the tray. It's all about using whatever junk is on hand to fight the other junk that's broken.
