I swore I'd never use the office label maker but then the binder crisis hit

Honestly, I used to think people who labeled everything in the supply closet were just extra. But last Tuesday, the file binders for Q3 got completely mixed up with Q4's paperwork during a cleaning crew mishap. I spent 2 hours sorting through 150 folders at my desk in Omaha before I grabbed that label maker and just went to town. Now I actually get why folks get obsessed with it. Anyone else have a random tool at work they resisted but now can't live without?

150 binders in Omaha? Two hours sounds like you got off easy. I still think labeling is a crutch for people who can't organize without a machine telling them what's what. I've been in the same office for 11 years and never needed a label maker. If you put things back where they belong in the first place, the cleaning crew can't mess it up. You're just fixing a problem you created by not having a system. But hey, if it helps you sleep at night, go ahead and stick those little plastic tabs on everything.

Nah, I gotta push back on that a bit. A good system is great and all, but a label maker is just THERE when life happens, like a cleaning crew or a new temp who doesn't know where anything goes.
