Had to pick between sitting in silence or listening to my coworker's podcast recommendations
I work in a cubicle farm processing insurance claims, eight hours a day of staring at spreadsheets. My coworker Janet kept pushing her true crime podcasts on me, saying they make the day fly by. I finally gave in after a week and tried one about a guy who faked his own death in 1999. It was thirty minutes of ads and the narrator sounded like he was reading a grocery list. I went back to silence the next day, just the hum of the AC and my keyboard clicks. Honestly, silence is better because at least I can hear myself think about what I'm making for dinner. Has anyone else found that podcasts just add more noise to an already boring job?

That podcast narrator sounds painfully dry.

Is it the monotone voice or just bad writing?
