Finally changed my mind about fixing that squeaky floorboard in the break room

I spent 6 months just walking around it, telling myself it wasn't that bad. Then last Tuesday, I was carrying a full pot of coffee and stepped right on it. Sounded like a dying animal, coffee sloshed everywhere, and my coworker Janet just stared at me from the table. I grabbed a $4 bottle of WD-40 from the hardware shop on 3rd Street that afternoon and hit the nails. Not a peep out of that board since. Has anyone else put off a simple fix until it caused a whole mess?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, a little squeak in the break room isn't the end of the world. Unless you're dropping full pots of coffee every week, it sounds like a minor inconvenience. Maybe you could have just walked around it a bit longer and saved yourself the trip to the hardware store. Or just put an extra chair over it or something. I don't know, seems like people make a bigger deal out of stuff than they need to sometimes.

Oh man, the WD-40 trick is a lifesaver for floorboards! I had the exact same issue in our hallway, kept telling myself I'd get to it next weekend, then my kid tripped and spilled a whole cup of juice. Got it fixed in ten minutes flat.
