Finally caved and put all my receipts in a binder after the audit scare

I used to just toss receipts in my glovebox and call it good. Then my manager at the warehouse got audited last month by the state, and they wanted proof for every supply run we did over 2 years. I spent 3 straight shifts digging through crumpled papers trying to match dates. Never again, man. Has anyone else had to scramble for old receipts and just gave up?

Used to be one of those people who laughed at receipt binders, thought it was overkill. Then I had to prove a client refund to the tax man last year and my shoebox system failed me completely. Actually lost out on a deduction because I couldn't find the paper. Now I have a folder for each month and a little zipper pouch in my car for the loose ones. It's a pain but the peace of mind is worth it.

Used to be the same way, thought binders were a waste of time and space. Glovebox receipts were good enough for me, figured if the tax man came knocking I'd just sort it out then. That warehouse audit changed everything though. Seeing how fast things can go sideways when you can't put your hands on a single piece of paper... it really woke me up. Now I keep a simple folder system too, not fancy but it's better than the panic of hunting through my car floor mats. The little bit of effort up front is nothing compared to that sinking feeling of knowing you're losing money because you were too lazy to organize.
