Debate: Did I screw up by fixing the boss's mistake or should I have let it ride?
So I'm unloading a truck for a move in Austin, and I notice the bill of lading has the wrong address for the drop-off. The client's new place is 1420 Elm, but the sheet says 1420 Oak. I caught it before we drove 30 miles out of the way, so I called the office and got it fixed. But my coworker says I should've just followed the paperwork and let the boss deal with the fallout, because that covers our butts. Which side is right: save the day and risk looking like a busybody, or follow orders and let them learn the hard way?

Typo the boss's email with the wrong address and see how fast he changes his tune about "just following the paperwork" ... Honestly your coworker is living in some kind of perfect liability dreamland where nobody ever gets yelled at for anything. You saved the company time and fuel and kept the client happy, that's a win in my book. Worst case scenario you look like a good employee who pays attention, best case you don't drive to the wrong house and unload a couch into some random person's living room.

Yeah @ryanhayes hit it on the head, paperwork isn't always the final say when you're the one who has to deal with the real people. I had a similar thing happen with a delivery once, my boss was mad at first but the client ended up sending a thank you email to his boss. It backs you up way better than a form nobody reads.
