Copier jammed at 4:58 PM on a Friday and I snapped

I work front desk at a dental office in Phoenix. Our main copier ate a staple and started making this grinding noise right as I was packing up to leave at 5. My boss was already gone so I had to open the side panel and dig out a shredded staple from the roller with tweezers. It took 20 minutes and I got toner all over my khakis. Has anyone else had to fix office equipment way above their pay grade because nobody else would stay late?

Bet your khakis are now officially "artfully distressed" like they cost 200 bucks. Nothing says "I'm a professional" like digging through warm machine guts for a tiny metal demon while imagining your happy hour beer getting warm. My record is fixing a paper shredder with a butter knife and a prayer, so I feel your pain.

Keep a small screwdriver set in your desk drawer for next time.
