A temp at the office asked why I bother with a paper planner, and now I'm questioning everything
Been working the same data entry gig for 4 years now, mostly just moving numbers between spreadsheets. This 19 year old temp kid sat next to me during a slow Wednesday and asked why I still use a paper planner when I have a company laptop and phone. Said it looked like homework. I tried to explain the satisfaction of crossing out tasks, the muscle memory of writing things down, but honestly his point stuck with me. He showed me his whole system on a Notion app, color coded and linked to his calendar, took him maybe an hour to set up. Meanwhile I've got two binders and a sticky note wall in my cubicle. Has anyone else had a younger coworker casually dismantle your whole work flow? Or am I just set in my weird ways? I'm 38, not ancient, but I felt like a museum exhibit that day.
