A client in Portland handed me a book and said 'it just doesn't feel right in the hand'
I realized the spine was too stiff from using a 90gsm paper, which made it awkward to hold open. Anyone have a go-to paper weight for a more flexible case binding?

More flexible case binding" I always heard 70gsm is the sweet spot.

Oh yeah I tried 60gsm once and it was... not great for me. The paper kept creasing weirdly around the hinge area. I switched to 65gsm Japanese paper and that's been my go-to for a while now. Still flexible but doesn't warp or buckle when I glue it down.

Saw a bookbinder on youtube say they go down to 60gsm for super flexible spines. Makes sense if you want it to really bend...
