The week my book club fell apart over a single dog-eared page

Last Tuesday, three of us almost walked out when someone admitted she'd dog-eared a page in our copy of the library's only hardcover of the month. Nobody could agree if it was a crime or just a habit, and we spent the whole night arguing instead of talking about the plot. Has anyone else had a debate turn into a full on fight over something this small?

Oh man, this brings back bad memories from my old knitting group. We had this whole thing blow up because someone used acrylic yarn in a project that was supposed to be "all natural fibers only." It got so heated that two ladies didn't speak for six months. Maybe it's just me but I feel like book clubs and craft groups bring out this weird intensity in people over little stuff. The worst part is that nobody even remembers what the original conversation was supposed to be about.

Defend the all-natural fiber rule here, rules exist for a reason and someone joining a group should respect them. Acrylic yarn sheds microplastics and doesn't breathe like wool or cotton, so for a serious project it can actually ruin the whole piece. Those ladies probably weren't mad about the yarn itself, they were mad that someone didn't care enough to follow the one simple request the group agreed on.
