Spent 3 hours arguing about if the butler did it in a mystery novel

My book club picked this crime novel last month, and I was sure the butler was the killer. I mean, the clues were all there, the guy was shady from chapter one. But two other members kept saying it was the neighbor, and we got into this huge debate that lasted our whole meeting. I went home still mad, so I reread the last 50 pages that night to prove I was right. Turned out the butler was the killer, but I missed a detail where he had a twin brother. The whole thing took me 3 hours to sort out because I kept going back and forth. Has anyone else had a book club debate where you were dead certain about something and then realized you were partly wrong?

Yeah, that's basically every book club argument ever. Best thing I learned is to read the last few chapters twice before the meeting so you actually catch all the twists instead of defending a wrong theory.

My book club had a whole thing last month where two people were dead set on the twist being X, and one of them even brought a printed article from some obscure blog to prove their point. But then at the meeting, we realized the author literally said the opposite in an interview from like, years ago. So we all just sat there looking stupid for forty minutes. I swear, reading the ending twice is the only way to not get roasted at these things. That or just nod and pretend you didn't actually finish the book like half the group does anyway.
