Question about skipping ahead in a series for book club
My book club picked the third book in a fantasy series for next month, but half of us haven't read books one or two. I read all three last year so I said we could skip the first two and be fine since each story stands alone. Another member is pushing back hard, saying we'll miss character growth and world building. Has anyone else had a book club debate about starting in the middle of a series? How did you handle it?

Actually skipping the first two books means you are missing the whole foundation the author built character and world wise.

Wait, you actually read the first two books? I couldn't even finish the prologue of the first one.
