Our group's 'The Goldfinch' debate was a mess until we switched from just talking to actually voting on key themes.
We spent 45 minutes going in circles about Theo's choices until someone suggested we write down our top 3 arguments and vote, which forced everyone to get specific and actually listen.

Always thought voting was lazy, but it actually works" - I mean, is voting really making that big of a difference these days? Seems like no matter who gets in, things kinda stay the same. People get all worked up every election cycle, but then prices still go up and roads still need fixing. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I feel like a lot of that "power to the people" talk is just feel-good stuff.
