Our club split over doing the book in one sitting vs spreading it over 4 meetings, and the one sitting group was right
Last spring in our Austin club, we had 9 people and split into two groups for the same 320 page novel. The spread-out group met every Sunday for 4 weeks, and by week 3 half of them admitted they forgot who half the side characters were. My group read it in one long Saturday at a coffee shop on South Congress, argued about it for 5 straight hours, and everyone still remembered the ending. The slow group spent most of their last meeting just re-explaining the plot to each other instead of actually debating it. Has anyone else tried cramming a whole book before a meeting and had it work better than stretching it out?
