Our book club fought for 45 minutes over whether the main character was actually dead or not
Started reading The Silent Patient for a monthly pick. Half the group was convinced the whole thing was a hallucination. Other half said no way, the evidence was right there in chapter 12. We never did agree. Has anyone else had a book club where nobody could agree on a basic plot point?

Oh man, that sounds exhausting. I've been there, it's rough.

Eh I dunno, is it really that deep though? People have always worked hard and complained about it, that's just how it goes. I feel like we overthink this stuff and make it more dramatic than it actually is.

And seriously, it makes you wonder why we all put ourselves through stuff like that. Like, it's not just one thing, it's a whole pattern of life where we think we have to push through everything until we break. I've noticed it with friends too, everyone's always "grinding" or "hustling" like we're supposed to be machines. Then we wonder why we're all so burnt out and cranky all the time. It's like we forgot that sometimes the best thing to do is just stop and breathe for a minute. But nope, we just keep running on empty until something forces us to slow down.
