My book club blew up over whether the narrator was reliable and it got personal

So at our last meeting, Karen said she thought the narrator in 'The Last House' was just lying the whole time to make herself look better. I argued she was actually telling the truth and everyone else sided with Karen. I was so annoyed but then I reread chapter 12 and realized Karen was right, the narrator flat out says she's hiding something on page 87. It hit different because I had to admit I was wrong in front of 8 people. Has anyone else had a book club argument that made you rethink how you read the whole story?

Haha that's rough, walking back a take in front of everyone is brutal. Sounds like Karen needs a trophy for being the book detective though.

Wait didn't she miss like three other mistakes before that though?

Used to think she was just being petty about the details, but honestly her catching that mistake changed my mind...
