Debated a stranger over coffee about unreliable narrators
I was at a cafe in Portland last Tuesday and overheard a guy saying he hated The Great Gatsby because Nick was boring. I butted in and said that's the point, he's unreliable. We talked for 20 minutes about how Nick lies to himself about Gatsby. Has anyone else argued with a random person about a book character and walked away thinking about it differently?

Wait, did anyone else get totally sidetracked by a coffee shop debate before? I once spent 45 minutes arguing with a guy about Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye and he kept saying Holden was just a whiny brat. @juliagonzalez I feel you on how those debates stick with you because I still think about that conversation sometimes. But I walked away actually agreeing with him a little, that Holden does kind of get on your nerves if you stop trying to defend him. It made me reread the book and see him way different than I did in high school.

Yeah I get that, those random debates can really stick with you and change how you see things.
