Book club pick got flipped by one guy who works at a library, now I can't finish the thing
We picked a 400 page novel back in March and last Tuesday a newer member, Marcus, said the ending was the whole point and that the first 250 pages are basically setup. He spent about 10 minutes laying out why the middle chapters are filler. I was halfway through and actually enjoying the slow parts, and now I keep flipping ahead to see what he meant. It bugged me at first, but he might have a point about chapter 14 dragging. The thing is, half the group now wants to switch picks and we're two weeks out from meeting. How do you all handle it when one person's take reshapes the read for everybody?
