The night shift in Gary when the mud drum leak turned into a 14 hour repair
We were pulling a tube bundle on a unit outside Gary and found a pinhole in the mud drum wall that the last crew had walked right past during their inspection. We ended up cutting, fitting, and welding a patch that held on the first hydro, and the foreman bought us all breakfast at 6am. What is the worst thing you have ever found that a previous crew missed on a job?
Last turnaround we pulled a tower manway and found a whole ass crescent wrench sitting on a tray deck, like someone just set it down and clocked out for lunch three years ago. Thing was rusted solid but still in one piece, which honestly says more about the wrench than the crew that left it. Breakfast at 6am is the real hero here though, nothing hits different after a 14 hour patch job like free eggs and hash browns.
