Talked to an old timer at the Pittsburgh plant about pre-heat temps

He said 'kid, if you're not hitting at least 250 degrees on that P91 weld, you're just asking for cracks.' I've been going by the book at 200 for years. It made me stop and think about all the 'book smart' stuff we learn versus the real world. Anyone else have a specific temp they swear by for high-chrome alloys?

Wait, 250 degrees? That's way hotter than the book says, lol.

My oven runs cool, so I bump it up a bit.

Funny you mention that, because my oven has been lying to me for years. Found that out the hard way after a very expensive test coupon that looked like a roadmap (mostly cracks).
