Spent 2 hours hunting a leak on a 60 inch drum last Tuesday, turned out I was chasing the wrong seam
Last Tuesday over at the shop in Gary I had a small water tube leak on a 60 inch drum and I swore up and down it was coming from the seam I'd just welded. Spent about 2 hours grinding and rewelding and pressure testing, cussing the whole time. Then a guy I work with walks over with a flashlight and points at a pinhole about 3 inches away on a factory weld I never touched. Felt like a total idiot. What got me was how fast I blamed my own work instead of just looking at the whole thing first. I've been at this 11 years and still do it. Now I hit the whole joint with a light before I even pick up the grinder. Anybody else got a trick for finding weeps faster, or am I just gonna keep learning the hard way?
