My foreman said to always double-check the gasket on a new flange, even if it's factory sealed.
I didn't listen on a job in Toledo last month and we had a steam leak that shut down the line for three hours. Anyone else have a simple rule they ignored and paid for it?

Tbh I read a story once about a guy who skipped checking torque specs on new hydraulic fittings. He said the manual said it was pre-set from the factory. One blew off under pressure and sprayed hot fluid everywhere. It's crazy how those five minutes you save can turn into a whole day of cleanup and repairs.

Totally believe it. My husband had a similar thing happen with a garden hose fitting he swore was tight enough. We spent the afternoon cleaning mud off the side of the house. That little extra check is always worth it.
