Chasing a bad weld seam for 6 hours, turned out it was my stinger lead
Had a 3/8 fillet job over in Gary last Tuesday and kept blowing through on the root pass. Swapped rods, adjusted heat, even checked the ground clamp, but nothing worked. Finally an old hand walks over and says 'you ever check the cable lug on your stinger?' Sure enough the bolt had worked loose and was arcing inside the boot. Six hours for a 10 minute fix, has anyone else burned a whole shift on something that dumb?
