Warning: That 6-hour board game organizer build took me 3 full weekends

I saw this custom insert design for my Gloomhaven box that looked so clean and neat, figured I'd knock it out in one Saturday afternoon. Three weekends later I'm still slicing my fingers on foam core and trying to fit the last miniatures in place. The problem was I didn't account for how much trimming and dry-fitting each tray would need, plus the glue drying time between layers. Has anyone else fallen into this trap of underestimating foam core projects? Because I just wanted to play the game, not build a whole workshop.

Start by asking yourself if this is really that bad. I mean, yeah it took a while but did you actually enjoy the process at all? @fisher.reese has a point with the foam core is a lie thing but come on, it's not like you lost a limb or something. Gloomhaven is a giant game with a million pieces, what did you really expect? People act like spending a few weekends on a hobby project is some kind of tragedy. You probably learned a lot about cutting and fitting stuff, and now you have a custom organizer that fits your exact needs. Sounds like a win to me honestly.
