Shoutout to the guy who told me to stop hoarding board game expansions

I used to buy every expansion for every game I owned, thinking I needed them all. Then a guy at my local game store in Austin said 'you never even play the base game enough to justify that.' He was right - I had 5 unplayed expansions for Scythe sitting on my shelf. Anyone else fall into the trap of buying before playing?

Did I tell you about the time I bought two copies of the same expansion for a game I hadn't played yet because I forgot I already had it? Yeah, that happened. Now I just stare at my shelf and wonder how many meals that money could've bought.

You just reminded me of something I read about how game companies actually count on people forgetting what they already bought. It's crazy how much stuff we end up with that we don't even use, @lane.joel. I guess the shelf is just a monument to all our bad decisions now.
