My buddy dragged me to open board game night in Dayton and I finally get why geeking out in person hits different
Went to my local game store in Dayton last Friday for their open board game night, mostly because my buddy wouldn't stop bugging me about it. I had played stuff at home with two or three friends for years and figured that was plenty. Walked in and there were about 30 people at 6 tables, and a guy running the counter knew the rules for almost all of them cold. I sat down for a game I had never heard of and lost badly in about 45 minutes, but I had more fun losing than I did winning my usual 2 player games at home. Here is the thing that got me: watching someone explain a rule by pointing at the board instead of me rereading a manual three times. Packed up at 11pm and already signed up for next week. For the regulars, do you stick with one group or hop between tables to try new stuff?
