My aunt told me to store board games on their side to save shelf space. It ruined three games.

She meant well, she's been collecting games since the 80s. But about 6 months ago I took her advice and stacked about 15 boxes on their sides. Last week I opened up my copy of Castles of Burgundy and all the little tiles had slid into one big pile in the bottom. Sorting that was a nightmare. Then I checked my Agricola and the board had a permanent bend in it. Has anyone else had bad luck storing games vertically or did I just do it wrong?

A whole pile" is right-my dominoes became one big jigsaw puzzle.

One big jigsaw puzzle" is exactly how it feels. In my experience, the secret is to not even bother sorting dominoes by color, just flip them all face down and start rebuilding from the edges inward like a real puzzle.

OH man, @kelly.parker I've been there! What worked for me was carefully flipping each piece over One at a time and sorting them by color before trying to fix the mess. It's a pain but way better than guessing.
