Just found out the original Settlers of Catan print run was only 5,000 copies in 1995, which is wild considering how huge it is now. Saw it in a documentary on YouTube.

Honestly, that's a crazy small number to start with. Tbh I'd check the corners of the box and the condition of the cards if you think you have an early copy. The first print run had a few small differences in the artwork and the robber piece.

My copy's so beat up I can't even see the box corners.

Hang on, everyone always talks about those tiny early print runs like they're some sort of hidden gem, but 5,000 copies is still a lot of games floating around. Chances are @hayden_martin29 your beat-up box is just a well-loved copy from a later print run, not some rare first edition worth a fortune. The whole "check the corners and the robber piece" thing is just internet hype making people think their dusty board game is a retirement plan. Most of those original 5,000 boxes are probably in a landfill somewhere or destroyed by kids spilling soda on them. This whole hunt for a 1995 copy feels like people wanting bragging rights more than an actual fun game to play.
