I finally learned my lesson about buying board game accessories on impulse

So last month I dropped $60 on a set of metal coins for Scythe at a local game store in Portland... they looked so cool on the shelf but nobody in my group even wanted to use them because they clanked too loud and kept sliding off the resource tracks. Now they're just sitting in a bag in my closet. Has anyone else bought a deluxe upgrade that ended up being more annoying than useful?

You had a friend buy those metal Scythe coins too? My buddy Mark grabbed that exact same set from Powell's Books. He was so hyped about them. But yeah, same deal - they slid right off his player mat every time he moved a token. Plus the clanking drove his cat insane. @john_murphy I bet those magnetic chests would've been perfect for Mark's waterdeep set he never uses either.

Had a similar thing happen with those little plastic chests that are supposed to hold your coins in Lords of Waterdeep. Bought a set of like 20 of them for fifteen bucks online because I thought they'd look great on the board. First game with them and people kept knocking them over trying to grab their coins, plus they didn't stack right so the whole thing was just a mess. Ended up tossing them in a drawer and now I just use the cardboard money from the box like a normal person. The worst part was I saw a better set with magnets in them a week later for the same price but I was too mad to buy more accessories.
