Got wrecked in Catan at a friend's place in Tulsa because nobody would trade with me
Sat down for a 4 player game at my buddy's place in Tulsa on Saturday and by turn 3 I had zero ore and everyone knew it. I got boxed in early, no ports, and the whole table just kept saying "sorry man, I need that" every single time I asked. I ended up with 4 points and just sat there watching someone else roll to 10. Now I'm thinking the real skill in Catan is table talk and not getting ganged up on. How do you all deal with being the obvious loser target, do you just tank and play spoiler or try to wheel and deal your way back in?

Last month I played a game in my buddy's garage where I had 2 sheep and nothing else for like 8 turns straight, so I feel your pain. The move that actually worked for me was trading away my longest road or biggest army threat for basically nothing, just to make myself look less scary so people would deal with me again. Sounds dumb but it broke the "he's the target" thing. Sometimes you just gotta play the clown and hope someone takes pity on you.
