Got called out for being the guy who never plays the game he brings

Last month at our Thursday group in Sacramento, a buddy said I always show up with a shrink wrapped box and then just explain the rules instead of actually trying to win. That stung because he was kind of right, I was hiding behind teaching to avoid losing. So now I pick one game and actually play it three weeks in a row, and the weird part is I'm having way more fun losing. Does anyone else deal with this or is it just a me thing?
