Found a weird board game stat while looking up old sales numbers
I was digging through some old convention sales data from 2018 and saw that a single store in Portland sold over 400 copies of a small print-run indie game about competitive mushroom foraging. It just seems so specific and random for one place to have that many. Has anyone else ever stumbled on a niche game that had a weirdly huge following in one particular city?

Yeah, like nancy_garcia63 said, some games just hit weird local vibes.

Man, this reminds me of my buddy from upstate. He got super into this farming sim that was basically just his boring hometown. He called me freaking out because the in-game gas station had the same broken sign as the real one. Totally get what @nancy_garcia63 means about the pipe game. It's like the devs just walk around some random town and copy every single weird detail. That level of specific, boring realness just messes with your head. My friend couldn't stop playing it, said it felt like a ghost had made a video game just for him.
