Board game lot from an estate sale ruined my collection, learn from me

Picked up a box of 12 games at an estate sale in Denver for $40, seemed like a steal. Didn't check for pests, and a week later I saw silverfish crawling out of the Catan box. That box sat next to my shelf for 3 days before I opened it, bad mistake. Now I quarantine every used game in a ziplock bag for 2 weeks before it touches anything. Has anyone else had a flea market find bring in unwanted critters?

Found a spider in a Monopoly box once. Whole shelf went up in flames.
