That time I spent 4 hours trying to fix a forge burner

Last winter I was dialing in my propane forge and couldn't figure out why the flame kept going out. Turns out the problem was a tiny bit of spider webbing blocking the air intake, something I never even thought to check. Has anyone else chased a simple fix for way too long?
