Rant: spent 11 hours chasing a bad forge weld that turned out to be a dirty fire pot
Ngl I was ready to toss my whole coal setup last Saturday after a billet delaminated on me three times in a row. Kept blaming my flux and my hammer technique, redoing the stack over and over at the shop off Route 9 in Flemington, when the real issue was clinker buildup choking the air flow. Cleaned the pot out with a poker and scraped maybe a cup of fused crud off the bottom, and the very next weld stuck on the first heat. Anyone else ever lose a whole day to something that dumb, or is it just me.
Three welds at the shop on Franklin and my only skill is making things worse. Last time I tried to fix something myself I broke two more, so lucky is putting it nicely.
