Pro tip: keep a brass brush by the forge, not in your tool bucket

Everyone in my shop keeps their brushes in a bucket by the anvil, and I did too for about 6 years. Last March I moved one brass brush to a hook right on the forge stand at my place in Toledo, and my scale cleanup got way faster because I'm not walking across the shop with a hot piece. Some guys say the brush gets too hot hanging there, but mine has held up fine since I rehandle with hickory. What's your setup for keeping brushes close without burning the handles?

So one guy hangs a brush on a hook and suddenly it's a pro tip? I've had a brush sitting on the forge stand for years and never wrote a forum post about it. The walking across the shop thing is like ten feet, not a hike through the desert. If your scale cleanup "got way faster" from moving a brush closer, maybe the real fix is just having more than one brush. Buy three cheap ones, keep one everywhere, problem solved.
