Never asking for help almost ruined a custom order
I used to think asking for advice showed weakness. Honestly, a fellow smith spotted a heat treat mistake I was making. Now I check in with the shop more often.

Tom's custom table warped because he never checked with other carpenters.

So how many times did Tom actually SEE that table warp before it went out the door? Like was it a slow thing he could have caught?

Listen, lilyb27's table example shows the real cost... it's not just our pride that takes a hit, it's the client's trust. They paid for a pro job and got a warped piece because someone was too quiet to ask a simple question. That silence can wreck your name way faster than admitting you need a second look. We forget the client is stuck with the result of our stubbornness... they're the ones who actually live with the mistake. Saving face in the shop means losing it completely with the people who matter.
